Are You

The first one in your family to breastfeed/chestfeed?
Confused by all the conflicting information?
Annoyed by everyone’s opinions about your decisions?
Worried if you’ll make enough milk?
Wanting solid information from someone who actually looks like you?

If so, let’s get you supported with evidence-based information while still taking a holistic approach.

BLACK

breastfeeding

is revolutionary!

You’re smart; you’ve done your research and you know the science behind human milk feeding. If you are like most of us, your brain is actually on research overload, adding to your mental strain and exhaustion.

Internet forums like Peanut or What to Expect are

NOT designed to support YOUR history, YOUR story, or YOUR revolution. On top of this, they are full of conflicting information. You know what I’m talking about:

You MUST breastfeed, even if you have to suffer through it
You are BAD or WRONG if you stop early or struggle
If your breasts are too small or too large, you won’t produce enough milk
You MUST drink lactation teas, eat lactation cookies or use fenugreek in order to build a milk supply
If your baby is small, they NEED formula and even if your baby is big, they also still NEED formula
EVERYONE uses formula

You deserve better!

As a Black parent, revolutionary outcomes happen when working with someone who has actually lived the Black experience.

Your Prenatal Onboarding Session is your very own private breastfeeding class. Unlike a group breastfeeding class, you will receive personalized information specific to your life and circumstances. Is this your first baby? Or do you have an older child that you didn’t meet your feeding goals with?

Made to fit your individual needs, this session will prepare you for your breastfeeding/chestfeeding journey by:

Addressing your infant feeding goals
Start the healing of past traumas as it relates to bodyfeeding/breastfeeding
Discuss normal newborn feeding behaviors/patterns so that you know what to expect.

We will also describe different nursing positions and demonstrate what a proper latch looks like. We’ll even talk about your support system to ensure that you are surrounded by people who are respectful of your feeding goals. Spouses, partners, grandparents and other relatives are highly encouraged to attend. Research shows that “Black mothers are 9 times as likely to be given formula for their babies compared to white mothers”

New moms and parents get lots of baby advice!

However, it’s not always a good thing, especially if that advice comes from someone lacking the relevant experience. Invest in your baby’s future by learning from the most qualified sources.

Did you know with the right support, giving your baby your own milk reduces their risk of:

Asthma
Ear infections
Diarrhea

While helping yourself:

Reduce the risk of breast and ovarian cancer
Lessen menstrual cramping
Experience faster postpartum recovery
Family

We don't have to be afraid to bond with our babies!

Together, we can end the deep-rooted breastfeeding myths that have plagued Black families and communities for generations.

Today, we know that

Breastfeeding will NOT spoil your baby (and neither will holding them too much).
Your baby does NOT need to “learn to cry it out”.
It is OK for your baby to be “dependent on you”.
Breastmilk alone CAN satisfy your baby and keep your baby full
Your milk IS real milk
Your baby doesn’t NEED formula milk just to “fatten up”.
Breastfeeding is NOT what causes “sagging boobs”.
Breasts are NOT just for sex and for your significant other.
You CAN breastfeed AND stay sexy

Black women fed this country.

We honor our ancestors for their resiliency. We thank our grandmothers, mamas, aunties and sisters for being powerful in keeping us safe.

And through that honor: We reclaim our bodies.

We change the narrative.

We feed OUR children, OUR way.
